Our first shop opened in 1981 in Penzance, selling durable clothing to artists and mariners. Today, we’re a modern, data-enabled omnichannel retailer with a growing international presence. We blend heritage with innovation, designing timeless clothing made from responsibly sourced fabrics, and using technology to improve how we operate, grow and serve customers.

As we scale in the UK and internationally (primarily through third-party partnerships), we’re investing in data, systems and digital capability to support our people and our growth. It’s an exciting time to join us!

We’re looking for an Automation Quality Assurance Engineer to help us deliver reliable, secure and high-performing digital experiences. You’ll make sure our web applications built on Magento and services hosted in Microsoft Azure (including Microsoft Dynamics 365) are thoroughly tested and ready for release. You’ll build and run automated tests that catch issues early and support smooth deployments, while carrying out manual testing where needed. Working closely with developers, product managers and quality teams, you’ll help improve our testing approach and raise standards across the board. You’ll also work in line with the expectations of your band in the Seasalt Success Framework and follow all Seasalt policies and procedures. Please note that internally, this role will be referred to as ‘Test Analyst’. This role is based remotely within the UK, with occasional travel to our Cornwall head offices.

You’ll help us by:

  • Developing and maintaining automated test scripts for web and backend systems using tools such as Selenium and Playwright.
  • Building and running automated regression tests to protect existing functionality.
  • Designing and managing continuous integration and deployment pipelines in Azure DevOps, embedding automated testing into every release.
  • Carrying out automated security testing using tools such as OWASP ZAP, identifying vulnerabilities and supporting their resolution.
  • Monitoring and improving performance using Google Lighthouse, plus running load and stress testing where required.
  • Ensuring our platforms meet accessibility standards, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, using tools such as a11ywatch or kayle.
  • Performing manual testing to validate functionality and user experience.
  • Logging, tracking and supporting the resolution of defects within sprint cycles.
  • Maintaining clear, up-to-date documentation of test cases, scripts and results.
  • Supporting and mentoring other engineers in automation best practice.

The skills you’ll be sharing with the team:

  • Certification in a recognised testing framework, such as ISTQB Foundation Level or Certified Selenium Professional.
  • Proficient in Testing Magento Platform Architecture and Customization: Demonstrated ability to test Magento platforms, including custom modules and integrations.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps for CI/CD Pipeline Management: Experience using Azure DevOps to automate testing processes from development to deployment.
  • Expertise in Automation Frameworks: Knowledgeable in automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or similar tools.
  • Performance Optimization Experience: Ability to use tools like Lighthouse, Jmeter and similar tools to evaluate and improve web performance metrics.
  • Backend testing using Postman, Jmeter and similar tools.
  • Database testing experience.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Strong ability to work collaboratively with QA, development, product management, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality software.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide feedback and document testing activities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and priorities.
