Ideal for engineers from ports, airports, highways, rail, utilities or local authority infrastructure environments. Deliver infrastructure projects inside a major UK operational port environment. This is a client-side role, managing contractors and delivering a diverse portfolio of civil and infrastructure works across a live operational estate. One week you may be overseeing a pavement repair or drainage scheme. The next, you could be involved in elements of a £50m container terminal upgrade, heavy-duty quayside infrastructure, conveyor installations or marine structures. If you enjoy project variety, autonomy and complex infrastructure environments, this role offers exposure to projects of all sizes within a strategically important UK logistics hub.

The Job Role & Responsibilities

  • You will support the delivery of multiple concurrent civil and infrastructure projects across the estate, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.
  • Managing projects from concept through to completion.
  • Preparing technical specifications and tender documentation.
  • Procuring and managing framework contractors.
  • Monitoring project budgets, valuations and variations.
  • Coordinating internal operational stakeholders.
  • Ensuring CDM 2015 compliance and reviewing Construction Phase Plans.
  • Inspecting works on site and maintaining project documentation.
  • Supporting design modifications using AutoCAD.
  • Balancing reactive works alongside planned capital schemes.

  • Projects vary significantly in scale and complexity and may include:
  • Heavy-duty pavement and surfacing works.
  • Port and marine infrastructure upgrades.

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering civil or infrastructure projects within an operational environment: Ports / marine infrastructure, Airports or logistics hubs, Local authority capital works, Highways infrastructure, Utilities infrastructure, Rail infrastructure, Industrial estates or operational facilities.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience managing contractors rather than direct labour.
  • Exposure to procurement, tendering and contract administration.
  • Budget and programme management experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or HNC/HND with relevant experience.
