Our client is a leading international events business, delivering a portfolio of conferences, exhibitions and awards across the UK and overseas. As the business continues to expand its global events portfolio, it is investing in a dedicated Event Risk & Compliance Manager to ensure a consistent approach to governance, health & safety and legal compliance across every event.

This is not a traditional corporate compliance role. Working alongside Event Managers, venues, suppliers and senior stakeholders, you will take ownership of risk, governance and compliance across the entire events portfolio, ensuring every event is planned, documented and delivered safely while protecting attendees, exhibitors, sponsors and the wider business.

The Role

Reporting to a Director, you will become the organisation's subject matter expert for event risk and compliance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing consistent risk and compliance processes across all events.
  • Reviewing event plans to ensure legal, regulatory and Health & Safety requirements are met.
  • Reviewing and approving event risk assessments and compliance documentation.
  • Ensuring appropriate insurance is in place for events, venues, exhibitors, sponsors and contractors.
  • Maintaining and developing the company's event risk register.
  • Working closely with Event Managers throughout the planning and delivery of each event.
  • Reviewing venue documentation, emergency procedures and contractor RAMS.
  • Advising internal teams on legislation, best practice and risk mitigation.
  • Investigating incidents where required and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Producing reports and updates for senior leadership.
  • Driving a culture of compliance, governance and continual improvement across the organisation.

About You

You'll already have experience managing risk, compliance or Health & Safety within a live events or similar environment. You may currently be working as a:

  • Event Risk Manager
  • Event Compliance Manager
  • Risk & Compliance Manager
  • Health & Safety Manager
  • HSE Manager
  • SHEQ Manager
  • Compliance Manager

You'll also have:

  • Previous experience within conferences, exhibitions, live events, venues, hospitality or a similar public-facing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, risk management and compliance.
  • Experience reviewing risk assessments, insurance documentation and contractor compliance.
  • Experience working with venues, suppliers and multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification (essential).
  • Willingness to undertake occasional international travel.

Salary & Benefits
