A growing engineering design consultancy is looking to hire an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a small, friendly team delivering industrial projects across heavy plant engineering, materials handling systems and process environments.
This is a home-based role, with limited travel to the Derby office for company meetings and occasional client site visits as required.
The Role
- Take ownership of mechanical design work from concept through to fabrication/installation, including:
- Producing 3D models, 2D drawings, GA’s, layouts, schematics and calculations
- Preparing supporting documentation (e.g., technical dossiers, quality plans, manuals)
- Liaising with suppliers and collaborating across disciplines and stakeholders
- Ensuring designs meet technical standards, safety requirements and client specifications
- Supporting delivery against quality, programme and budget
Key Skills / Experience
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within industrial / heavy engineering environments
- Experience with plant layouts and materials handling systems (silos, conveyors, bulk handling, dryers etc.)
- Understanding of steelwork/structural interfaces (portal frames, platforms, supports)
- Pipework design/detailing beneficial
- CAD skills: SolidWorks essential; Tekla and/or AutoCAD desirable
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently within a small team
Package
- £45,000 - £50,000 Per Annum
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
