Are you looking to develop a career in technical sales, with support from an experienced Technical Director?

We are recruiting for an established engineering services business supporting customers within the marine sector.

This is an opportunity to build your technical knowledge while developing customer relationships, following up enquiries and winning new business.

You don’t need to be a technical expert from day one.

Some sales or customer account experience would be useful, but drive, organisation and a willingness to learn are key.

You’ll work closely with the Technical Director, who will provide guidance on the services, proposals and customer meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconnect with existing and previous customers, identifying new opportunities within the customer database.
  • Follow up quotations, understand customer requirements and agree clear next steps.
  • Discuss upcoming maintenance, repair and overhaul requirements to identify future work.
  • Generate new enquiries through calls, emails, Linked In and targeted prospecting.
  • Arrange and attend customer meetings, site visits and relevant industry events.
  • Gather feedback on successful and unsuccessful quotations to help improve future proposals.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, including opportunities, quotation values and follow-up actions.
  • Work with the Technical Director on proposals and negotiations, developing your understanding of pricing, margins and commercial terms.
  • Support Linked In activity by sharing relevant projects and service updates.
  • Key Skills and Experience
  • Some experience in sales, account management, business development or a customer-facing commercial role.
  • Confident communicating with customers by telephone, email and in person.
  • A proactive approach, with the persistence to follow up opportunities and build relationships.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to see tasks through.
  • An interest in engineering and a willingness to learn technical products and services.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • An engineering or marine background would be beneficial, although it is not essential.

Benefits and Development

  • £30,000 basic salary.
  • £10,000 performance-related bonus opportunity in your first year, subject to agreed targets.
  • Direct support and mentoring from the Technical Director.
  • Opportunity to develop technical sales and commercial skills.
  • Customer visits and potential international travel to exhibitions and industry events
