Searles Leisure Resort is a long-established, family-run holiday resort located on the beautiful Norfolk coastline in Hunstanton. Job Purpose: The postholder will be required to support the group in providing an outstanding service and creating a five-star, well-maintained and safe environment for our customers, by preparing and cooking meals to an excellent standard for the resort’s guests, at one of the 2 restaurants and/or takeaway outlets located on the resort. The role also includes working catered events and seasonal functions. Although this post is not entirely customer facing, the postholder must understand that good customer service is also in ensuring Back of House tasks and services are completed efficiently and to a high standard. As such, the postholder will assist the Head Chef and Sous Chefs in managing the day-to-day kitchen operations, maintaining standards, procedures, quality, and profitability, and ensuring our 5* food hygiene rating is always maintained. The key focus of all departments is maintaining excellent customer service and care whilst managing health and safety within the workplace. You will support the Company’s mission and objectives through ensuring compliance to Policies and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve food to the required standards whilst meeting food hygiene regulations.
  • Prepare and serve meals in a restaurant or takeaway setting.
  • Prepare and serve meals in a banqueting style setting as required.
  • Maintain food safety in all cooking and food preparation areas.
  • Provide input with menus and feedback for the new season’s menu.
  • Uphold high standards of food quality at all times, paying meticulous attention to detail to ensure that all dishes are delivered according to the correct specification to ensure that quality and portion control is managed correctly.
  • Ensure that wastage is kept to a minimum.
  • Work within Company’s Health and Safety guidelines to maintain and monitor a safe and secure environment for the welfare of our visitors and staff.
  • Follow the relevant Company and Department Procedures and adhere to all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Maintain an effective and friendly working relationship with colleagues.
  • Assist in dealing with customer queries and problems promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintain all company premises to a five-star standard of cleanliness, tidiness, presentation, and safety.
  • Maintain equipment, including daily and routine cleaning and maintenance if required.
  • Be responsible for ensuring food safety/health and safety procedures are always adhered to and in accordance with the Safer Food Better Business Manual.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times.
  • Ensure that all start and end of shift procedures, including daily and routine cleaning are adhered to, to ensure the kitchen is ready for service, and set up as detailed in Procedures, and all daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are completed and recorded.
  • Ensure all correct paperwork is completed on time and to the required standards.
  • Assist F&B Operations Manager and Chefs in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
  • Report any maintenance issues and requirements of new equipment to manager.
  • Comply with all regulations and policies such as Data Protection Act, Health & Safety and Safeguarding.
  • Complete any in-house training as required and participate in team meetings.
  • Act as an ambassador for the business and ensure that the Company is promoted externally on all occasions.
  • Support the company’s mission and objectives through compliance to Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as required.

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2
  • Previous Commis or Chef de Partie experience
  • Professional Cooking/Chef Skills (Any Level)
  • Teamwork skills and the ability to act as the public face of the business
  • Computer literate

  • Full valid Driving Licence for UK (Desirable)
