Overview

Searcys is looking for a Head Chef to head up their chef brigade at The Pump Room in the social heart of Bath. As an ambassador for the brand, you will deliver food that creates lasting memories and experience high‑end culinary creations for our clients and guests. You will be based in the main kitchen, working alongside the brigade of chefs.

The Georgian Pump Room has been the social heart of Bath for more than two centuries, offering award‑winning afternoon tea, spa water from the fountain, and music from the Pump Room Trio or resident pianist.

Responsibilities

• Provide food/service to a consistent high standard, including assisting senior chefs with functions in other areas throughout the business.
• Manage the kitchen brigade in the absence of the executive chef.
• Assist training of junior staff.
• Liaise with key people in the team to plan for the provision of food in all areas.
• Place orders directly with suppliers.
• Ensure smooth running of daily operations, preventing disruption to the pre‑agreed menu offer.
• Manage stock levels of specific areas, ordering when required and controlling waste.
• Ensure presentation of food is consistent with standards set by senior chefs.
• Supportive/team player, takes initiative, excellent communication and time management skills.
• Demonstrate high level of organisation and excellent record keeping.
• Be willing to work the hours and needs of the business.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in people management.
