Searcys are looking for a Cafe Assistant to join the team at the National Army Museum. As a Cafe Assistant, you will be responsible for providing service excellence to our guests and clients in our daytime Café.

The National Army Museum welcomes visitors to learn about the Battle of Waterloo and all that being a soldier entails. The museum has fascinating military artefacts in contemporary light-filled spaces, with spectacular views of Sir John Soane’s Grade II listed stables and the Royal Chelsea Hospital.

The Cafe Assistant will be supporting, monitoring and serving all food and drinks to customers/clients/guests and clearing throughout the event while supporting the Cafe.

Job Type: 0 hours Contract, predominantly working days Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with occasional evening shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and polish all cutlery and glasses/crockery for the next event
  • Prepare all hospitality food and beverage requests offered to customers/clients/guests in designated meeting spaces in a presentable manner
  • Work without supervision and take initiative over duties and tasks without being directed
  • Serve our guests with a genuine and positive demeanour; all service should be efficient and of the highest quality
  • Work on licensed bars serving alcoholic beverages
  • Use coffee machines
  • Assist with deliveries as required
  • Prepare all hospitality requirements ensuring all items are available and report any shortages to your line manager
  • Ensure that any linen hired and equipment hired for an event is counted and packed away for collection after the event
  • Excellent product knowledge (food/beverage)
