About the Role
Are you an Accounting Professional with auditing and financial experience who is eager to transition into a Founding Product role at a very early stage start-up? My client is an ambitious early-stage startup developing a cutting-edge enterprise platform to revolutionise core processes within audit and finance. They are at the very beginning of their journey, currently working with developers on the first workflow planning for launch in the new year. As the first core hire, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between deep financial accounting and auditing expertise and product development. This unique position combines the functions of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Product Manager. This is a high-ownership, all-hands-on-deck role designed for someone with the drive to build a company from the ground up.
Reporting To: Director
Key Responsibilities
- Product Translation: Serve as the technical and accounting bridge, translating complex accounting and auditing requirements into clear user stories and specifications for the development team.
- Roadmap Leadership: Help define and execute the product roadmap, ensuring development targets for the initial platform workflow are met.
- SME & Trainer: Apply strong accounting and auditing technical knowledge to support the platform's development journey. Be able to explain complex financial concepts to non-accountants (i.e., the dev team).
- Early-Stage Operations: Be prepared to wear multiple hats—from client communication and gathering feedback to assisting with internal business and IT setup.
Key Requirements
- Enthusiasm & Soft Skills: Highly ambitious, self-starter, and keen to get hands dirty. You must be enthusiastic, collaborative, and ready to throw your whole self into this fast-paced environment.
- Accounting Expertise: Accounting qualification is important. Strong, applied experience with financial statements and auditing is essential. Experience at mid-market accounting firms is highly valued.
- Technology Acumen: Broad experience in technology implementation or working with software development teams to enhance business processes. You understand the tech landscape but do not need to be a specialist.
