Job Title: Technical Lead Platform Engineer (Azure)

About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Lead Platform Engineer to lead the delivery and operation of Azure cloud platform services. This role is responsible for ensuring highly automated, secure, resilient, and cost-effective cloud capabilities aligned to business objectives. You will work closely with the Cloud Product Owner, Lines of Business, and partners, providing hands-on technical leadership across platform engineering, DevOps, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, and operation of Azure cloud platform services
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to platform engineers, fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture
• Own agile ways of working, including facilitating agile rituals and acting as Scrum Master when required
• Collaborate with Product Owners and LOB teams to define and prioritise new automated cloud capabilities
• Manage Azure service provisioning and deprovisioning, configuration management, and service catalogue
• Own Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions and platform evergreening
• Drive CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and test automation
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and automated operational responses
• Lead service resiliency, availability, performance, and disaster recovery
• Oversee incident and problem management, including post-mortems and error budgets
• Manage cloud consumption reporting, cost optimisation, and “turn it off” initiatives
• Ensure strong security practices, including shift-left security and secure source code management
• Strong Azure cloud experience across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS
• Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Bicep, ARM)
• Source code management and pull-request-based change processes
• CI/CD, deployment automation, and test automation
• Monitoring and alerting in production cloud environments
• Shift-left security practices and strong security awareness
• Familiarity with multiple programming languages and cloud tooling
• Experience with service resiliency, backup, recovery, and patch management
