A well-established Main Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering major schemes for a portfolio of long-standing blue-chip clients. Known for high-quality delivery, collaborative working and operating with genuine integrity, they continue to expand across multiple sectors including Industrial, Commercial, Residential, Retail, Education and Infrastructure, with typical project values ranging from £20m – £120m. As the business continues to grow, they are strengthening their commercial leadership team and are now seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to oversee multiple schemes and support senior leadership.
As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will support the Commercial Director in the day-to-day management of a fast-paced, expanding commercial department. You will take commercial leadership across several live projects, guiding site-based QS teams and working closely with Project Managers to ensure effective cost control, contract administration and commercial governance. Your role will span the full lifecycle of projects, from early-stage procurement through to final accounts, with responsibility for client communication, subcontractor management and the commercial performance of multiple schemes.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Leading tender presentations for new projects and contributing commercially during bid submissions
- Preparing budgets, prelims build-ups and reviewing trade contractor bids
- Compiling proposal documents and coordinating commercial information
- Preparing trade contractor bid lists with the Project Manager and gaining internal approval
- Managing tender schedules and reporting against cost plans
- Advising clients on procurement routes
- Managing the Subcontract Procurement Schedule and issuing trade contract bid documents
- Conducting tender analysis, issuing purchase orders and managing subcontractor appointments
- Managing change control with the Project / Site Manager
- Preparing, submitting and agreeing monthly cost reports (including collating inputs from other QSs)
- Preparing valuations and agreeing interim and final accounts with subcontractors and clients
- Managing CVRs, maintaining cost control systems, updating budgets and preparing monthly commercial reports
- Oversight of risk management, cash flow and forecasting
- Supporting business development and maintaining relationships with key clients and design teams
