Market Unit HR Director

Up to £470 per day via Umbrella

About the client

They are seeking an experienced HR Director to support one of their most strategically important business units, responsible for delivering critical services to HMRC.

This is a high‑profile leadership opportunity, reporting directly into the UK HR Director and partnering closely with senior business leaders to shape and deliver a people strategy that supports growth, transformation, client delivery, and organisational capability.

The HR Director role

As HR Director, you will lead the people agenda across the HMRC Market Unit, ensuring workforce strategies are aligned to business objectives, client commitments, and future organisational requirements. You will be responsible for:

  • Experience supporting employee populations of 2,000+ employees
  • Strong workforce planning and organisational design experience
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver people strategies aligned to business objectives
  • Experience leading transformation and change programmes
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive influencing skills
  • Experience coaching and advising senior leaders
  • Deep expertise in talent management, succession planning, and employee engagement
  • Strong employee relations and industrial relations experience

  • Experience using people analytics and workforce data to support decision‑making
  • Strong understanding of HR governance, compliance, and risk management
