A growing technology organisation within the National Security sector is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to support the delivery of secure, mission‑critical solutions for government and defence customers. This is an opportunity to work across cutting‑edge programmes involving cloud, DevOps, AI, cyber, and platform engineering technologies. You’ll join a collaborative engineering team developing high‑performance backend systems that support critical operational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy secure backend software solutions
  • Write clean, scalable, and high‑performance code using Go and/or Python
  • Deploy containerised applications into Kubernetes environments using Helm and ArgoCD
  • Translate solution designs into detailed technical implementations
  • Support Agile delivery processes including sprint planning, stand‑ups, reviews, and demos
  • Produce technical documentation and contribute to engineering best practices
  • Monitor, maintain, and improve deployed systems and services

Required Skills & Experience

  • Commercial experience developing software in Go or Python
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tooling
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with ArgoCD and Git‑based deployment workflows
  • Understanding of Agile software development methodologies
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
