Our client is a leading organisation operating within a highly secure and technically complex environment. Supporting critical business systems and infrastructure, they require an experienced SQL Database Administrator to ensure the performance, availability and security of enterprise database environments. Due to continued programme demand, they are looking to add a skilled SQL DBA to their team.
THE SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR ROLE
As a SQL Database Administrator, you will act as a subject matter expert across Microsoft SQL Server and Azure database environments, supporting production, UAT and development systems. You will be responsible for maintaining database performance, availability and security whilst supporting upgrades, releases, incident resolution and continuous improvement activities.
- Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL environments
- Perform database patching, upgrades and planned releases
- Monitor and optimise database performance and capacity
- Support clustering, replication, backup and recovery solutions
- Provide third-line support and incident resolution
- Develop and maintain SSIS packages and data integration processes
- Support Power BI Report Server administration and troubleshooting
- Work with Azure VMs, Azure DevOps and Windows Server environments
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing
SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Strong SQL Server administration experience (SQL Server 2016 onwards)
- Advanced T‑SQL development experience including stored procedures and triggers
- Experience with Azure VMs and Azure DevOps
- Strong SSIS experience including package creation and deployment
- Experience supporting Power BI Report Server environments
- Knowledge of Windows Server administration
- Experience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery
- Familiarity with ITIL environments and ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems
- Ability to work onsite within a secure environment
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- MySQL administration experience
- Azure Monitor and/or SCOM experience
- PowerShell scripting
- Microsoft Azure Database Administrator certification
- ITIL Foundation certification
