They support clients across the full system lifecycle, from design and integration to sustainment and decommissioning, focusing on agile, collaborative, and tailored approaches to complex digital transformation challenges.
What will the Lead Infrastructure Engineer be doing? Within the team, you will develop and maintain a suite of mission-critical applications in a fast-moving environment, balancing evolving mission needs with ongoing support. The core technology is Oracle APEX, with strategic plans considering a potential migration to an AWS-based stack.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and provide 3rd line support for mission-critical applications.
- Promote modern development practices and drive team improvements with the Service Owner and CIO.
- Mentor technical staff.
- Advise client leads on multi-year migration plans from Oracle to AWS.
We need the Lead Infrastructure Engineer to have:
- Active enhanced DV Clearance (West).
- Willing to work full time on site in Cheltenham when required.
- Expertise within one of the following:
- Versatile Lead Engineer – Broad software engineering background within the customer’s IT estate. Comfortable quickly learning APEX on the job.
- Oracle – Expertise in Oracle (19c), web applications built with APEX (21–24) and ORDS (24), with strong PL/SQL skills.
- AWS Engineer – Experience migrating applications and databases to AWS Oracle services.
Desirable skills:
- Understanding of APIs and service integration in corporate environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as a Service, especially Red Hat (8/9) and Amazon Linux (2/2023), for building non-database infrastructure (e.g., web, SFTP servers).
- Familiarity with Atlassian Bitbucket/JIRA.
- Familiarity with GitLab.
