MLOps Engineer contract opportunity working on cutting-edge Machine Learning and AI capabilities. £512 per day via Umbrella | Initial contract until September 2026 with strong extension potential through to 2027. Hybrid working – Portsmouth onsite 2 days every other week, remainder remote. SC Clearance required.

Our client is a leading engineering and technology organisation delivering innovative solutions within highly secure and complex environments. They are investing heavily in AI, Machine Learning and cloud technologies to support the development of next-generation capabilities. Due to continued programme growth, they are looking for an experienced MLOps Engineer to help build and mature their MLOps capability across multiple projects.
THE MLOPS ENGINEER ROLE
As an MLOps Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing MLOps capabilities across a range of Machine Learning use cases. You will be responsible for building scalable, secure and automated deployment pipelines while supporting ML workloads within complex and highly secure environments. You will:
- Develop and maintain MLOps platforms and CI/CD pipelines
- Build and manage containerised solutions using Docker and Kubernetes
- Support DevSecOps practices including automation, integration and security scanning
- Develop scripting and automation solutions using Python, Bash and Linux
- Work with cloud technologies including AWS and Google Cloud
- Support ML tooling including MLFlow and Airflow
- Contribute to solutions operating within air-gapped environments
- Collaborate with software, data and ML engineering teams
MLOps Engineer Essential Skills
- Strong commercial experience in MLOps Engineering
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong knowledge of GitLab CI/CD and YAML pipelines
- Python and Bash scripting experience
- Experience implementing DevSecOps principles and automation
- AWS cloud experience
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of Machine Learning concepts and workflows
- Eligible to obtain and maintain SC Clearance
Desirable Skills
- MLFlow experience
- Apache Airflow experience
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience
- Experience working within secure or air-gapped environments
- Defence, National Security or highly regulated industry experience
