FPGA Engineer contract role, Farnborough based organisation supporting secure cyber and information assurance programmes. Outside IR35 contract paying up to £650 per day. Active SC or DV clearance required. Opportunity to own FPGA delivery across the full development lifecycle.

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client is a specialist engineering organisation delivering secure digital and programmable logic solutions into highly regulated UK environments. They work across a range of cyber and information assurance programmes, developing both standard products and bespoke secure solutions. Due to ongoing project demand, they are seeking an experienced FPGA Design Engineer to support the delivery of complex FPGA designs across multiple programmes.

THE FPGA ENGINEER ROLE

As an FPGA Design Engineer, you will take ownership of FPGA solutions from requirements capture through architecture, design, implementation, verification, and into production. Working as part of a multi-disciplined team, you will lead the technical delivery of complex FPGA designs involving both industry standard and custom interfaces and protocols. The role includes close collaboration with project management, systems, hardware, and external IP suppliers, alongside hands-on development, test bench creation, and system level integration and debug.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Proven experience delivering FPGA designs across the full development lifecycle
  • Strong FPGA design and verification skills using VHDL
  • Experience defining FPGA architectures and leading technical delivery
  • Hands-on integration and debug of FPGA solutions in hardware
  • Experience with configuration management and version control
  • Eligibility for UK SC clearance, UK nationality required

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Microchip FPGA devices and Libero toolchain
  • ModelSim or Questasim verification (UVM beneficial)
  • Secure design principles and cryptographic awareness
  • Embedded firmware development in C or C++
  • Use of third party IP and complex interfaces
