The Digital Signal Processing Engineer Role
As a DSP Engineer, you will apply your expertise in digital signal processing, algorithm development, and reverse engineering to deliver innovative solutions in software-defined radio (SDR) and payload technologies. This role combines hands-on R&D with system integration, giving you the opportunity to push the boundaries of modern communications technologies while contributing to mission-critical Defence and Intelligence programmes.
Responsibilities
- Reverse engineering and analysis of RF systems, signals, and software
- Developing and optimising DSP algorithms for SDR applications
- Designing and integrating payloads for advanced communication systems
- Supporting R&D initiatives to drive innovation in DSP and SDR technologies
- Conducting laboratory, field, and real-world testing and validation
- Collaborating with hardware and software teams to deliver fully integrated solutions
DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Strong background in DSP, including algorithm design and optimisation
- Experience in reverse engineering RF systems and signal analysis
- Hands-on experience with SDR platforms and technologies
- Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or similar programming languages for DSP/SDR development
- Knowledge of signal modulation/demodulation techniques and digital communication protocols
- Experience in real-time testing and evaluation of RF systems
Desirable
- GnuRadio or similar SDR platform experience
- FPGA / RFSoC development and VHDL or Verilog proficiency
- Familiarity with Linux environments and GitLab version control
- Experience with payload development for Defence or covert comms systems
