The business plays a key role in waste management and environmental services, with a strong focus on safety, service quality, innovation, and sustainability. THE ROLE As Class 2 LGV Driver, you'll be responsible for safely and efficiently driving and operating a range of waste collection vehicles, predominantly collecting hazardous clinical waste in line with company standards. You'll carry out daily vehicle checks, maintain accurate records, follow all relevant transport legislation, and deliver a high standard of service to both internal and external customers. This is a hands-on driving role suited to someone reliable, safety-conscious, and keen to develop within the waste management and environmental services sector. Responsibilities include: Driving and operating waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently Collecting predominantly hazardous clinical waste in line with company procedures Carrying out daily vehicle checks and escalating defects where required Complying with tachograph legislation, Working Time Directive, SOPs, and risk assessments Reporting incidents, near misses, contaminated bins, and non-conforming waste Completing accurate paperwork and maintaining strong record-keeping standards Keeping vehicles clean and completing weekly wheel nut torque checks Wearing and maintaining PPE and uniform to required Health Safety standards Delivering excellent customer service to internal and external customers Maintaining punctuality and completing duty hours accurately Remaining flexible with working hours and supporting overtime where required Learning to operate different vehicle types and supporting wider transport operations ESSENTIAL SKILLS Valid LGV Class 2 / Category C licence Driver Qualification Card Digital tachograph driver card Experience operating waste collection vehicles Strong understanding of safe driving practices and vehicle checks Knowledge of tachograph legislation, WTD, SOPs, and risk assessments Basic understanding of Health Safety policies and procedures Strong customer service and communication skills Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn Ability to read and interpret maps and directions accurately Flexibility to support overtime and varied working requirements Willingness to become multi-skilled across different vehicle types DESIRABLE SKILLS Class 1 / C+E licence ADR certification, although training may be provided for the right candidate Experience with roll-on/roll-off vehicles, skip loaders, or front-end loaders KEY SKILLS Ex-Military, Class 2 LGV Driver, HGV Class 2, Category C, Driver CPC, Digital Tachograph, Waste Collection, Hazardous Waste, Clinical Waste, Transport Operations, Vehicle Checks, Health Safety, Customer Service, ADR, Roll-on/Roll-off, Skip Loader, Front-end Loader, Logistics, Service Leaver, Veteran, Royal Logistic Corps, RLC, Army Driver, RAF, Royal Navy
