Our client is a highly respected engineering consultancy delivering complex software solutions into safety critical environments. Working across major programmes within sectors such as defence, aerospace, rail, and transport, they are recognised for their rigorous engineering standards and correctness-by-construction approach. Due to continued project growth, they are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their established team.

THE SOFTWARE ENGINEER ROLE

You will take a leading role in the development of safety critical software systems, supporting projects from requirements and architecture through to development, testing, and delivery. Depending on your experience, you may lead consultancy engagements, shape technical strategy on bids and projects, or mentor junior engineers within delivery teams. You will also work closely with safety teams to support compliance against industry standards while promoting engineering best practices across the wider business.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Strong commercial experience with SPARK or ADA
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience within software engineering
  • Strong understanding of the full safety critical software development lifecycle
  • Experience within aerospace, defence, rail, automotive, or transport sectors
  • Knowledge of standards such as IEC 61508, EN 50128, ISO 26262, DO-178, or DEF STAN 00-55
  • Experience leading technically complex software projects
  • Strong stakeholder communication and leadership skills
  • Experience mentoring or managing engineers
