Excellent opportunity for an experienced Technical Pre-Sales professional to join a fast-growing, cloud-led Managed Service Provider operating at enterprise level. Permanent, full-time role based in the Basildon area, with hybrid working considered. Ideal for someone with strong MSP experience who enjoys customer-facing solution design, technical authority, and working closely with sales and delivery teams.

Our client is a rapidly expanding Managed Service Provider delivering secure, scalable, and commercially aligned IT solutions to a diverse customer base. With a strong focus on cloud, security, and managed services, they are known for their consultative approach, technical depth, and ability to design solutions that align technology with real business outcomes.

This is a senior, customer-facing role sitting between sales, engineering, and service delivery. You'll act as a technical authority during the sales cycle, leading discovery, shaping solutions, and ensuring designs are robust, secure, and deliverable. For key and strategic accounts, you'll also provide Technical Design Authority oversight, maintaining architectural consistency and managing risk.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with Account Managers and Business Development Managers to support new business and account growth.
  • Leading technical discovery sessions to understand customer requirements, risks, and compliance needs.
  • Designing end-to-end MSP solutions across cloud, infrastructure, networking, and security.
  • Acting as the technical lead in customer meetings, workshops, and presentations.
  • Producing high-level and low-level designs, architecture diagrams, and supporting documentation.
  • Providing technical input around security, compliance, resilience, and operational impact.
  • Acting as Technical Design Authority for strategic accounts, reviewing and approving solution designs.
  • Ensuring solutions align with internal standards, tooling, and service catalogue.
  • Supporting the creation of Statements of Work, proposals, and technical sections of bids.
  • Assisting with effort estimation, licensing, and third-party service considerations.
  • Working closely with delivery and operations teams to ensure smooth handover from pre-sales to implementation.
  • Contributing to technical governance, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What will you need?

  • Proven experience in a technical pre-sales, solutions architect, senior engineer, or similar role within an MSP or IT services environment.
  • Broad technical knowledge across Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, and identity solutions.
  • Strong understanding of networking, firewalls, secure connectivity, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience designing backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
  • Solid grasp of cyber security principles and managed security services.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into clear, supportable technical designs.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience producing clear technical documentation and supporting sales activity.

What would be desirable?

  • Previous experience acting as a Technical Design Authority or senior architectural reviewer.
  • Exposure to enterprise or regulated customer environments.
  • Relevant technical certifications across Microsoft, cloud, networking, or security.
  • Experience working within formal design governance or approval frameworks.
