THE OPPORTUNITY
We are working with a digital agency that is supporting an end client through a website migration and broader search performance strategy. They are looking for an experienced Fractional SEO Strategist to lead the SEO workstream and ensure the migration is executed correctly from both a technical and strategic perspective. This role will act as the SEO lead across the agency-client relationship, protecting existing organic visibility, implementing best practice migration processes, and establishing a clear strategy for ongoing organic and paid search performance. This is a fully remote engagement, though a London-based consultant would be ideal for occasional client meetings if required.
THE ROLE
- Own and lead the SEO strategy for an agency client undergoing a website migration
- Ensure best practice technical SEO implementation throughout the migration process (redirect strategy, URL mapping, metadata, internal linking, crawlability, indexing)
- Audit pre- and post-migration performance to safeguard rankings and traffic
- Develop and deliver a clear, commercially aligned SEO roadmap
- Conduct keyword research, competitor analysis, and opportunity mapping
- Create and guide an ongoing content strategy to drive sustainable organic growth
- Provide strategic oversight across both organic and paid search, ensuring alignment where appropriate
- Monitor rankings, traffic, and technical health, delivering clear reporting and actionable insights to the agency and end client
- Collaborate with agency stakeholders including digital, paid media, content, and development teams
- Operate in a fractional capacity, providing senior-level expertise on a monthly rolling basis
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Proven experience leading SEO for website migrations (essential)
- Demonstrable track record of driving organic growth
- Experience working within or alongside agencies
- Strong understanding of how organic and paid search strategies complement each other
- Proficiency in tools such as GA4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog (or similar)
- Comfortable presenting strategy and performance updates to both agency and end clients
- Ability to work autonomously while embedding into an agency team
