About the client: Our client is a global engineering consultancy at the forefront of delivering net zero infrastructure across the UK. Their Power Grids team plays a central role in designing, delivering, and future-proofing energy systems nationwide. Due to continued growth and a pipeline of complex UK transmission projects, they are seeking a Principal P&C Design Engineer to lead their protection and control function and act as a technical authority.

The Principal P&C Design Engineer role: As Principal Engineer, you will lead the delivery of FEED and detailed design works for major transmission-scale projects across national networks. You’ll oversee project delivery, act as the technical authority for the P&C discipline, and collaborate with commercial and project management teams on bids and proposals. A key part of your role will involve mentoring senior and junior engineers, signing off design work, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance are met.

Principal P&C Design Engineer essential skills:

  • Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in UK-based substation protection and control design
  • Proven leadership in FEED and detailed design delivery
  • Experience preparing bids and cost estimates for multidisciplinary projects
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites as required
