THE NETWORK ENGINEER (DEFENCE) ROLE: As a Network Engineer, you will support the day‑to‑day operation of an enterprise network while contributing to the design and implementation of a new defence network. You will troubleshoot network and security issues, manage infrastructure upgrades, and act as a key technical point of contact for suppliers and internal stakeholders. Alongside BAU support, you will be involved in project delivery including deploying network technologies such as switching, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless solutions. You will also support cloud integrations and work closely with security teams to ensure compliance and performance across the network estate.
NETWORK ENGINEER (DEFENCE) ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Proven experience in a networking and/or network security role
- CCNA or equivalent certification
- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking (L2 / L3 concepts)
- Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and remote access solutions
- Knowledge of network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g. Wireshark)
- Experience working with wireless networks and infrastructure
- Ability to support both BAU and project‑based work
- Willingness to undergo government security clearance
