MECHANICAL FITTER – INSTALLATIONS
- £28.16ph (via Umbrella)
- On-site in Oxford, working 40 hours, Monday to Friday
- Work with world-class rotary aircraft in a highly regulated environment
- Initial 3-month contract with likely extension in the New Year
- Requires SC clearance upon joining
ABOUT THE CLIENT
Our client is a renowned engineering organisation specialising in the design, maintenance, and modification of advanced rotary aircraft. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and safety, their teams support key aerospace programmes both in the UK and internationally. Due to continued growth within their installations division, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitterto join their expanding maintenance and modification team.
THE MECHANICAL FITTER ROLE:
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a key role in supporting the Installation Supervisor and Certifying Engineer to deliver high-quality maintenance, modifications, and repairs to aircraft. You’ll work across both on-aircraft and off-aircraft environments, manufacturing components from sheet material, assembling parts, and installing systems in accordance with design data and airworthiness standards. The role involves working closely with the design office and other engineering departments to ensure precision and safety across all work scopes.
MECHANICAL FITTER SKILLS:
- Formal aviation apprenticeship or related mechanical engineering discipline
- Experience with Airbus Helicopters
- Full UK driving licence
- Proven experience in aircraft or helicopter maintenance and installations
- Strong ability to interpret detailed mechanical and engineering drawings
- Experience manufacturing and assembling brackets, fittings, and structures from sheet metal
- Skilled in riveting and structural repair techniques (on and off aircraft)
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and shift-based environments
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and safety focus
