ABOUT THE CLIENT:
Our client is a global aerospace leader, designing and manufacturing some of the worldβs most advanced aircraft. At their Filton site, they are delivering next-generation structural solutions for key programmes. Due to ongoing expansion in this area, they are looking to appoint a Lead Design Engineer to provide technical leadership and design governance within high-value, multi-disciplinary projects.
THE LEAD DESIGN ENGINEER ROLE:
- Own and lead the design activity ensuring product meets airworthiness and design quality requirements
- Deliver technical studies, trade-offs and design investigations
- Govern mod opening, DFM release, and closure to deliver change on time and to cost
- Lead internal and external designers with a focus on lean engineering principles
- Ensure governance of design maturity reviews in line with company policies
LEAD DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Proven experience leading complex design or engineering project teams
- Strong track record of delivery to Time, Cost, and Quality in high-value programmes
- Skilled in creative problem-solving and risk management
- Experienced with CATIA V5, ICC, Zamiz, ECM, Solings, and PASS
- Strong stakeholder management and decision-making ability
- Experience implementing Design to Cost initiatives and new technology strategies
