ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client operates within a highly secure, mission-critical environment, supporting complex systems where reliability, performance, and precision are essential. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a specialist technical team, maintaining and supporting critical database and system infrastructure.

THE DATABASE MANAGER ROLE

As an SCC Database Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance, performance, and reliability of database systems, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within a mission-critical environment. You will support system and software configuration, manage database updates, and play a key role in incident resolution and system recovery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform database maintenance and update activities
  • Implement database changes via change management procedures
  • Release and manage new database deployments
  • Maintain database change control documentation
  • Conduct routine backups, archiving, and housekeeping activities
  • Monitor and ensure optimal system performance
  • Diagnose and resolve system failures and incidents
  • Restart subsystems and support system recovery activities
  • Assist the Software Manager with configuration management

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • 1–2 years’ experience in database administration or system support within a mission-critical or similar environment
  • Strong experience with Oracle database administration
  • Experience working with operating systems including:
    • RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
    • Solaris
    • Windows Server (2012 / 2022)
    • Windows 10
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot system issues
  • Good documentation and communication skills

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Experience within spacecraft operations or highly secure environments
