The business continues to invest in its IT and cyber capabilities and is now hiring a Cyber Security Engineer to strengthen its defence portfolio. This role is available due to continued programme growth and increased security demands across the organisation.

THE CYBER SECURITY ENGINEER ROLE
You will take a consultative and hands-on role across a range of IT projects within a defence environment, ensuring that platforms and services are designed, built and maintained securely. Working with Microsoft technologies across hybrid and onsite environments, you will embed security controls, conduct risk assessments, contribute to threat intelligence activities and support the implementation of monitoring, logging and alerting capabilities. The role also includes producing security documentation, performing configuration assessments, supporting incident response and collaborating closely with infrastructure, operations and project teams.
CYBER SECURITY ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Experience as a Cyber Security or IT Infrastructure Security specialist
- Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft based environments across onsite and cloud
- Understanding of network security principles including segmentation, firewalls and secure remote access
- Knowledge of IAM, MFA, RBAC and conditional access
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks including NIST, CIS Controls, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus
- Experience aligning infrastructure builds to recognised security baselines and NCSC guidance
- Experience with monitoring, logging, SIEM and threat detection tooling
- Understanding of encryption, data classification and secure storage principles
- Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and endpoint security platforms
- Experience with hybrid identity and federated authentication
- Understanding of security automation, SOAR and scripting for task automation
