This is a hands-on senior position covering cloud systems, infrastructure, networking and security, with responsibility for more complex technical work and escalations.
You'll work across firewalls, security incidents, Active Directory, Group Policy, Intune/MDM and networking, while also supporting client projects and helping improve their overall IT environments.
This isn't purely a support role.
You'll be expected to take ownership of complex technical issues, build strong client relationships and confidently recommend solutions based on customers' technical and commercial requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level support across client cloud, infrastructure and security environments.
- Act as an escalation point for complex firewall, networking and security issues.
- Investigate security breaches and perform root cause analysis.
- Configure, manage and update firewalls and routers.
- Create and manage Group Policies (GPOs) within Active Directory environments.
- Configure and manage Microsoft Intune and other MDM platforms.
- Create and configure VLANs and support wider network changes.
- Support Microsoft 365 environments, including Conditional Access and Share Point.
- Create scripts to improve cloud deployment and reporting, primarily within Share Point.
- Take ownership of complex technical escalations through to resolution.
- Deliver client projects on time and within budget.
- Build trusted relationships with customers and provide clear technical recommendations.
- Explain technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate security, network and infrastructure documentation.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and other technical teams where required.
What We're Looking For
- Strong knowledge of firewalls, ideally Forti Gate.
- Experience investigating security incidents and carrying out root cause analysis.
- Strong Active Directory and Group Policy creation and management experience.
- Good Microsoft Intune / MDM configuration and deployment experience.
- Experience creating and configuring VLANs.
- Strong networking knowledge covering firewalls, routers and network troubleshooting.
- Microsoft 365 experience, including Conditional Access and Share Point.
- Strong Windows hardware and infrastructure troubleshooting experience.
- Experience working across a variety of technologies within a support environment.
- MSP or outsourced IT experience would be highly beneficial.
- Ability to independently own complex technical issues and projects.
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
- Relevant technical certifications or evidence of continued professional development.
- Power BI knowledge would be advantageous.
- What's on Offer
- Exposure to a broad range of cloud, infrastructure, networking and security technologies.
- Opportunity to take ownership of complex technical work and client environments.
- Autonomy to improve and develop technical solutions.
- Opportunity to develop skills across new and emerging technologies.
- Genuine progression opportunities within a small, technically focused business.
- Flexible benefits package including options around childcare and medical cover.
- Working Pattern
The role is office based and works 40 hours per week, with core hours of 09:00-17:30.
There is a four-week rota covering an 08:00 start and Saturday emergency support for a small number of key clients.
Occasional travel to customer sites will also be required.
