The Role
We're looking for a Cloud Engineer / 2nd Line Engineer to join an established Managed IT Services provider supporting a range of client environments.
This is a hands-on, mid-level support role where you'll work across cloud, infrastructure, networking and security technologies, providing day-to-day technical support while working alongside more senior engineers on complex issues and projects.
You'll be responsible for supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy and Intune environments, alongside troubleshooting networking, firewall and security-related issues.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced 2nd Line Engineer who wants broader exposure across cloud, infrastructure and security while continuing to develop towards a more senior engineering position.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical support across client cloud, infrastructure and security environments.
- Support and maintain Microsoft 365 and Active Directory environments.
- Maintain existing Group Policies (GPOs) and Intune / MDM deployments.
- Troubleshoot Windows hardware, software and connectivity issues.
- Provide firewall, router and general network troubleshooting.
- Assist with security breach containment and escalate more complex investigations where required.
- Support firewall and router updates alongside senior engineers.
- Troubleshoot common networking and connectivity issues.
- Maintain accurate security, network and infrastructure documentation.
- Work directly with customers to resolve technical issues and provide a high level of service.
- Liaise with external suppliers where required.
- Support senior engineers with client projects, technical changes and more complex escalations.
- Continue developing knowledge across cloud, infrastructure, networking and cyber security technologies.
What We're Looking For
- Previous commercial experience within a 2nd Line IT Support, Cloud Engineer, Infrastructure Support or similar technical position.
- Strong Microsoft 365 support experience.
- Experience administering Active Directory.
- Experience maintaining
Group Policy (GPO) .
- Experience supporting or maintaining
Intune / MDM deployments .
- Good Windows hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of firewalls and common firewall concepts .
- Good general networking knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot common connectivity issues.
- Understanding of security breach containment and escalation procedures .
- Ability to independently manage day-to-day technical issues and recognise when more complex problems need escalating.
- MSP or Managed Services experience would be highly beneficial.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable working directly with customers and occasionally travelling to client sites.
- Relevant IT certifications or evidence of continued technical development would be advantageous.
