We are looking for a hands‑on Head of Engineering to lead the delivery of AI‑driven products and data platforms within a fast‑moving innovation environment. This role sits at the heart of a technology transformation where AI, data and cloud engineering are central to the business strategy. The successful candidate will lead engineering delivery across several innovation initiatives, helping turn ideas into real, production‑grade AI products. This is not a theoretical leadership role. We are looking for someone who has personally built and delivered modern AI, data and cloud solutions, and who leads teams by setting the technical standard and driving execution.

The Role

  • As Head of Technology, you will be responsible for driving delivery across AI, Data and Cloud engineering initiatives, ensuring teams build scalable, production‑ready solutions.
  • You will lead by example setting the technical bar, driving engineering standards and ensuring solutions are delivered on time, to quality and to budget.
  • This role combines technical leadership, delivery ownership and architectural oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering delivery across AI, Data and cloud‑based product initiatives.
  • Work closely with architecture, product and engineering teams to turn concepts into production systems.
  • Drive best practices across cloud engineering, DevOps, data platforms and AI development.
  • Ensure engineering teams are delivering high‑quality, scalable solutions.
  • Influence and guide engineering teams on what good looks like technically.
  • Support the design and delivery of AI‑powered products and agentic AI solutions.
  • Work across multiple innovation initiatives, incubators and product programmes.
  • Build credibility with engineering teams by leading from the front technically.
  • Drive engineering standards across architecture, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure and data pipelines.

What We’re Looking For

  • We are looking for a do’er, someone who has personally delivered complex engineering programmes, not just overseen them.
  • The ideal candidate will come from a consulting, software engineering or architecture background, with experience delivering solutions across multiple organisations or sectors.
  • Strong software engineering or solution architecture background.
  • Proven experience delivering AI and data‑driven solutions in production.
  • Experience building AI‑powered products or intelligent systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern cloud platforms (GCP, AWS or Azure).
  • Strong experience with DevOps practices and engineering delivery.
  • Experience leading engineering teams delivering complex platforms.
  • Experience influencing and guiding senior engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills – able to translate technical detail into business outcomes.

Particularly Valuable Experience

  • Experience building agentic AI solutions or AI‑enabled products.
  • Experience working in consulting or technology services environments.
  • Building data platforms, machine learning pipelines or AI services.
  • Experience working in AI, data engineering or modern platform environments.

Leadership Style

We are looking for someone who:

  • Leads from the front technically.
  • Is decisive and delivery focused.
  • Drives teams to deliver at pace and with high standards.
  • Can challenge engineering teams constructively.
  • Is comfortable operating in a high‑change innovation environment.

This is a role for someone who enjoys building things, solving hard problems and driving delivery, not simply overseeing programmes.

The Opportunity

You will join a business actively building AI‑driven products and platforms, with multiple innovation initiatives already underway. The role sits within a leadership structure focused on delivering next‑generation AI capabilities, with significant scope to shape the engineering organisation and influence the future technology strategy.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in turning AI ambition into real‑world systems.
