ABOUT THE CLIENT

This is an opportunity to work on sensitive, high‑impact programmes, supporting complex Oracle database environments where reliability and security are paramount.
THE ORACLE DBA ROLE
As an Oracle Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end management of secure, enterprise‑scale Oracle database environments. You will play a key role in ensuring high availability, performance optimisation, and robust security controls, supporting mission‑critical systems in a regulated environment. This is a hands‑on position, requiring strong expertise across database administration, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and security best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle Database environments
- Manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN
- Monitor and optimise database performance and availability
- Administer users, roles, permissions, and auditing controls; implement and maintain security hardening and compliance measures
- Support high availability solutions (RAC and Data Guard)
- Troubleshoot incidents and provide on‑call support when required
- Work within strict public sector security standards and operational controls
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Proven experience as an Oracle DBA in secure or regulated environments
- Strong expertise in Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard
- Experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and optimisation
- Proficiency in SQL / PL/SQL
- Strong Linux/Unix administration skills
- Experience with automation and scripting
- Solid understanding of database security and compliance standards
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
