The Senior Network Engineer Role
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will design, implement, and support secure network infrastructures across a range of complex environments. You will work across production LANs and global WANs, implement bespoke firewall rules, and contribute to high- and low-level network designs. The role blends hands-on delivery with technical problem solving, lab work, and proof of concepts, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys shaping and improving network solutions.
Senior Network Engineer Essential Skills
- Strong experience delivering and supporting WAN architectures
- In-depth knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
- Experience with VPNs and network security infrastructure (for example IKEv2 and next-generation firewalls)
- Ability to work from both high level and low level network designs and produce clear documentation
- Proven troubleshooting and implementation experience in secure environments
Desirable Skills
- Data centre networking (spine-leaf, EVPN, BGP, Geneve)
- Infrastructure automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible or Terraform
- Experience with NSX, high assurance IP encryptors, or white box networking
- Cisco CCNP or equivalent practical experience
