The Role
We are currently recruiting an experienced Competent Person / Civil Operative to support works on a live substation project at National Grid Pembroke Substation. This is a key role within the site team, responsible for ensuring safe access and operational control within a live HV substation environment, working in line with National Grid safety rules and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Competent Person in accordance with National Grid NSI 6 & 8 Safety Rules
- Manage safe access and egress of personnel, plant and delivery vehicles within the substation
- Ensure all works are carried out in line with HSG47 (Avoiding Danger from Underground Services)
- Support civil works on site in line with ground worker responsibilities
- Maintain strict compliance with site safety procedures, permits and authorisations
- Liaise with site management and project teams to coordinate safe operations
- Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental standards
Essential Requirements
- National Grid Competent Person Authorisation (NSI 6 & 8 - Full Authorisation)
- HSG47 (Cat 1+2)
- Strong experience working within live HV substation environments
- Manual Handling certification
- Full PPE required prior to site attendance
Please note: Only candidates with the required National Grid authorisations and competencies will be considered.
