SPEN Authorised Standby Man (APSS) – Location: Edinburgh – Start Date: ASAP – Duration: 4 Months+ – Rate: Competitive (dependent on experience and authorisation).
Search are currently recruiting for an SPEN Authorised Standby Man to join an ongoing project in Edinburgh on the Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) framework. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing authorised standby duties on a live substation environment, ensuring all works are carried out safely and in full compliance with SPEN safety rules and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Authorised Standby Man during works on or near live apparatus
- Ensure safe systems of work are followed at all times
- Liaise with site management, engineers, and contractors
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with SPEN regulations
- Stop work immediately if unsafe conditions are identified
Qualifications
- Valid SPEN Authorisation up to and including APSS
- Proven experience working within SPEN substations
- Strong understanding of substation safety rules, permits, and procedures
- Previous experience working on the Scottish Power framework
- Ability to work independently and maintain high safety standards at all times
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to site safety
This is a long-term opportunity with a reputable contractor, with the potential for further work beyond the initial contract for the right candidate.
