About the Project
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Freelance Construction Site Manager to step in immediately and oversee the rapid delivery of a fast-track industrial warehouse build in South Shields. Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, you will take full on-site control of the remaining construction phases, driving the project efficiently through handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Rapid-Response Site Leadership: Take immediate control of day-to-day site operations, coordinating all active sub-contractors, trades, and on-site staff.
- H&S Compliance: Ensure uncompromising standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance, running regular tool-box talks and site audits under a compressed schedule.
- Accelerated Programme Delivery: Closely manage the fast-track construction schedule, proactively identifying bottlenecks and implementing immediate corrective actions to keep milestones strictly on track.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee rigorous quality control inspections for structural steel frame components, cladding, and industrial flooring finishes.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Lead regular progress meetings with clients, design teams, and local authorities to maintain transparent communication.
- Site Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date site diaries, permits, and progress reporting logs.
Key Requirements
- Experience: Proven freelance or interim track record managing fast-track industrial, commercial, or steel-frame warehouse construction projects.
- Mandatory Tickets:
- Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
- First Aid at Work certificate
- CSCS Card (Black Manager level)
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in managing rapid structural erection, envelope cladding, and final fit-out stages.
- Commercial Awareness: Ability to drive productivity under time pressure while working alongside Quantity Surveyors to control site costs.
