SEARCH is currently recruiting for a Senior Site Engineer to join the Energy division, supporting National Grid's Great Grid Partnership (GGP) on the Norwich to Tilbury transmission upgrade project. This is an opportunity to work on one of the UK's most significant energy infrastructure schemes, forming part of National Grid's long-term investment in strengthening and modernising the UK transmission network.

The East Anglia Connection project involves the development of a new 400kV electricity transmission connection between Norwich and Tilbury, incorporating approximately 180km of new transmission infrastructure linking Norwich Main Substation, Bramford Substation, and Tilbury Substation. The programme includes extensive:

  • Civil engineering and infrastructure works
  • HV cable and utility installations
  • Substation and transmission construction packages
  • Earthworks, ducting, drainage, reinforced concrete, and associated enabling works

As Senior Site Engineer, you will play a key role in the safe and successful delivery of major civils and infrastructure packages across the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance across all site activities
  • Support the planning and coordination of Temporary Works and construction methodologies
  • Manage and oversee setting out and engineering activities on site
  • Ensure construction works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, ITPs, and project requirements
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, designers, and client representatives
  • Prepare and implement RAMS and safe systems of work
  • Maintain accurate site records, quality documentation, and progress reporting
  • Monitor workmanship, materials, and construction quality to ensure compliance with project standards
  • Support delivery teams in achieving programme milestones and operational targets
