Job Purpose
To take overall responsibility for the management and operation of a purpose-built nursing home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective care in line with regulatory requirements and organisational standards. The Home Manager will be accountable for clinical governance, staff leadership, financial performance, and maintaining compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the home
- Ensure the service operates in line with all relevant legislation, regulations, and policies
- Maintain full compliance with CQC standards and work towards achieving and sustaining a “Good” or “Outstanding” rating
- Clinical Governance
- Maintain oversight of all clinical practices within the home
- Ensure safe medication management and adherence to clinical protocols
- Monitor care delivery to ensure it is person-centred and evidence-based
- Manage safeguarding concerns and ensure appropriate actions are taken
- Leadership & Staff Management
- Lead, manage, and develop the staff team
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix are maintained
- Support recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing development of staff
- Promote a positive working culture and high standards of professional practice
- Quality & Compliance
- Implement and monitor quality assurance systems
- Investigate incidents, complaints, and safeguarding matters in line with policy
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date care documentation
- Financial Management
- Manage the home’s budget and resources effectively
- Monitor occupancy levels and contribute to maintaining financial performance
- Ensure efficient use of staffing and operational resources
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain effective communication with residents, families, and external professionals
- Liaise with local authorities, commissioners, and healthcare professionals
- Represent the service in a professional manner at all times
Person Specification
- Essential
- Registered Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC PIN
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and inspection processes
- Experience in clinical governance and care quality management
- Ability to lead and manage teams effectively
- Good understanding of budgeting and resource management
- Desirable
- Experience supporting elderly residents with dementia and complex needs
- Evidence of achieving or maintaining positive CQC ratings
Additional Information
The home is a purpose-built service providing nursing, residential, and dementia care. The service accommodates up to 87 residents, including independent living provision. The role includes participation in an on-call rota.
Remuneration & Benefits
