Search Consultancy is looking for a skilled and experienced Steel Fixer to join a major construction project in Northumberland. We are seeking a dedicated professional with a strong background in reinforced concrete (RC) frames and structural steelwork, prioritising precision and safety in a fast-paced environment.
Comprehensive Role Specification
The successful candidate will be responsible for positioning and securing steel reinforcing bars and mesh used to strengthen concrete on-site. Key responsibilities include:
- Reading Blueprints: Interpreting detailed engineering drawings and reinforcement schedules to determine the exact layout and placement of steel.
- Bar Bending & Cutting: Utilizing hand and power tools to cut and bend steel bars or mesh to the required shapes and dimensions.
- Assembly: Tying steel reinforcement bars (rebar) together using wire, clips, or welding to build cages and mats for slabs, columns, and walls.
- Fixing & Positioning: Ensuring all steel is accurately positioned and securely fixed to withstand concrete pouring, including the use of spacers and chairs.
- Quality Control: Verifying that all work meets structural specifications and passing inspections prior to concrete being poured.
- Compliance: Adhering strictly to Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations and maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times.
