Contract Length: 12 months

Hours: 50 hours per week (10-hour days, Monday start)

Positions Available: 5

IR35 Status: Outside IR35

Payment Options: LTD / Umbrella / PAYE

Timesheets: Weekly

Headcount Breakdown:

  • x2 with CPCS with Telehandler License
  • x1 with CPCS Slinger Signaller
  • x2 Fitters CSCS ONLY

All with GIS installation experience is preferable but not a must have.

Rates of Pay:

  • LTD / Umbrella
    • First 37 hours: £29.12 per hour
    • After 37 hours / First 4 Saturday hours: £30.87 per hour
    • After 4 Saturday hours / Sunday / Bank Holidays: £33.65 per hour
  • PAYE
    • First 37 hours: £21.54 per hour
    • After 37 hours / First 4 Saturday hours: £22.84 per hour
    • After 4 Saturday hours / Sunday / Bank Holidays: £24.90 per hour

We are currently recruiting for 5 Mechanical Fitters of varying discipline to support mechanical installation activities on a major substation project in the Orkney Islands. This is a long-term contract opportunity to join a well-structured delivery team working on critical energy infrastructure, with all accommodation, travel and meals covered.

The Role: Reporting to the Site Supervisor or Chargehand, you will be responsible for supporting mechanical installation works safely and efficiently within a live substation environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mechanical installation activities as part of the site delivery team
  • Work in line with QEHS procedures and site safety requirements
  • Adhere to all site rules, health & safety standards, environmental and quality plans
  • Support project delivery within programme timescales set by the Site Supervisor / Work Party Leader
  • Complete allocated task cards and associated project documentation accurately and on time
  • Proactively identify and communicate any issues or programme deviations
  • Maintain a high standard of safety for yourself and others on site at all times

Requirements:

  • Apprentice trained OR NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience on Electricity Supply Industry, substation, power generation, oil & gas, or heavy industrial projects
  • Experience working in live substation or utility environments preferred
  • GIS installation experience beneficial but not essential

  • CSCS or CPCS Card
  • Manual Handling
  • Working at Height
  • Fire Safety Awareness
