The Role:

We are currently recruiting an experienced Competent Person / Civil Operative to support works on a live substation project at National Grid Pembroke Substation. This is a key role within the site team, responsible for ensuring safe access and operational control within a live HV substation environment, working in line with National Grid safety rules and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Competent Person in accordance with National Grid NSI 6 & 8 Safety Rules
  • Manage safe access and egress of personnel, plant and delivery vehicles within the substation
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with HSG47 (Avoiding Danger from Underground Services)
  • Support civil works on site in line with groundworker responsibilities
  • Maintain strict compliance with site safety procedures, permits and authorisations
  • Liaise with site management and project teams to coordinate safe operations
  • Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental standards

Essential Requirements:

  • National Grid Person
  • National Grid Competent Person Authorisation (NSI 6 & 8 - Full Authorisation)
  • HSG47 Cat 1+2
  • Strong experience working within live HV substation environments
  • Manual Handling certification
  • Full PPE required prior to site attendance
