About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join our team in a 2-bed residential home supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Learning Disabilities (LD). As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care, support, and guidance to young people, helping them develop independence, resilience, and positive life skills. You will act as a positive role model, lead shifts, support less experienced staff, and contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support tailored to the individual needs of each young person.
- Lead shifts and ensure the smooth running of the home in the absence of management.
- Support young people with emotional, behavioural, and learning needs in line with their care plans.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and promote positive outcomes.
- Complete and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation.
- Administer medication in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Support young people to engage in education, activities, appointments, and community involvement.
- Promote safeguarding, health and safety, and the welfare of all young people.
- Mentor and support Residential Support Workers and new team members.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and training.
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers, education providers, and external professionals.
- Participate in a rota that includes evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in duties.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working within a residential childcare or supported living environment.
- Experience supporting children and young people with EBD and/or Learning Disabilities.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, Children & Young People's Workforce, or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Competent in report writing and maintaining accurate records.
- Full UK Driving Licence (preferred).
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in a senior or shift-leading role.
- Knowledge of therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
- Medication administration training.
- Understanding of Ofsted regulations and children's home standards.
