Kitchen Porters - Edinburgh Area (£12.21+ per hour)

Location: Edinburgh and surrounding areas

Rate of Pay: £12.21 per hour + holiday pay & overtime opportunities

Contract Type: Temporary / Ongoing / Full-Time & Part-Time available

About the Role

We're currently recruiting reliable, hardworking Kitchen Porters to join busy kitchens across the Edinburgh area. You'll play a key role in supporting chefs and front-of-house teams to keep operations running smoothly in restaurants, hotels, catering venues and staff canteens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and cutlery efficiently and safely.
  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation as required.
  • Ensure hygiene and food safety standards are always met.
  • Handle waste disposal and recycling in line with site procedures.
  • Support infection control and safe food-handling practices in care home and healthcare settings.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter, Catering Assistant, or Cleaner in hospitality or care environments is desirable but not essential.
  • A current PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) certificate is highly advantageous, or willingness to apply for one - having a PVG makes you eligible for care home placements and demonstrates your suitability for working with vulnerable adults.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
  • Proof of right to work in the UK.
