Depot Manager, Coatbridge, £45,000 - £50,000 per annum
We're recruiting on behalf of a leading UK brand for an experienced Depot Manager to join their site in Coatbridge.
As Depot Manager, you'll take full responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the depot, leading both warehouse and transport teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant running of the site. You'll drive operational performance, manage costs, maintain regulatory compliance.
This is a Monday to Friday role, working 40 hours per week. Standard hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, with flexibility to work early or late shifts if required. No weekend working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop all depot staff, ensuring high performance, engagement, and a positive working environment.
- Oversee daily warehouse and transport operations to achieve service, quality, safety, and cost targets.
- Maintain compliance with all DVSA, Health & Safety, and HR legislation, including driver hours, vehicle maintenance, and site safety standards.
- Manage operational costs and contribute to P&L performance, identifying opportunities for savings and efficiency.
- Monitor and analyse depot performance, producing reports and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure accurate records are kept for vehicles, drivers, stock, and operational processes.
- Support warehouse activities as needed, ensuring smooth coordination between warehouse and transport functions.
- Conduct staff performance reviews, handle disciplinary and grievance matters, and support training and development plans.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in a depot, logistics, or transport management role.
- Strong background in managing both warehouse and transport operations.
- Management CPC or OLAT qualification is essential.
- Good understanding of DVSA compliance, transport legislation, and warehouse processes.
- Excellent leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and P&L performance.
- Effective problem-solving skills and calmness under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging with staff at all levels.
- IT literate, ideally with experience of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and HR legislation and best practices.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage changing priorities.
