We are absolutely thrilled to be working alongside our Award-Winning Construction Manufacturing client as we look to recruit for an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their exceptionally talented Engineering Team.

Your New Role

As our new Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and systems. Your role is centred on ownership of the Preventive Maintenance (PPM) programme, ensuring all maintenance activities are planned, executed on time and in full, and continuously improved based on equipment performance, breakdown trends, and operational feedback. This position requires you to be a well-rounded engineer with a strong understanding of engineering principles, who is motivated to learn, take responsibility, and drive improvements regardless of electrical or mechanical bias. Working closely with production and engineering teams, the Maintenance Engineer will play a key role in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and embedding a proactive maintenance culture across the site. In addition, the role supports wider engineering projects, contributing from initial design through to build and final commissioning, ensuring that maintainability, reliability, and operational efficiency are considered at every stage. Ultimately, this position is critical in developing sustainable maintenance systems, improving operational performance, and supporting the long-term success of the manufacturing operation.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and Manage the Preventive Maintenance (PPM) Programme: Take full ownership of the PPM system within CMMS (Limble), ensuring all scheduled maintenance tasks are completed on time and in full. Continuously review task effectiveness and adjust frequencies, job plans, and priorities to maximise equipment reliability.
  • Develop and Optimise CMMS (Limble): Maintain a structured and accurate CMMS system, including asset hierarchies, maintenance plans, and historical records. Drive improvements in system usage to ensure it becomes a reliable tool for planning, tracking, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement in Maintenance Strategy: Analyse breakdown trends, recurring faults, and equipment performance data to refine maintenance approaches. Implement proactive and predictive maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving: Investigate equipment failures using structured problem-solving techniques. Implement robust corrective and preventive actions to eliminate repeat issues and improve long-term reliability.
  • Ensure High-Quality Maintenance Execution: Carry out and support maintenance activities to a high standard, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to production operations.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with production, engineering, and compliance teams to prioritise maintenance activities, coordinate downtime, and ensure alignment with operational goals.
  • Support Engineering Projects: Contribute to electrical and mechanical projects across the full lifecycle, including providing input at the design stage with a focus on maintainability and reliability, supporting equipment build, installation, and integration, and assisting with testing, validation, and final commissioning.
  • Improve Equipment Reliability and Performance: Identify opportunities to enhance equipment performance through modifications, upgrades, and improved maintenance practices.
  • Monitor and Report Maintenance KPIs: Track key metrics such as PM compliance, downtime, MTBF, and MTTR. Provide regular updates and insights to support decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Develop Maintenance Standards and Best Practices: Create and refine maintenance procedures, job plans, and standards to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality execution across all activities.
  • Promote a Proactive Maintenance Culture: Support the transition from reactive to planned maintenance by embedding best practices, improving planning processes, and encouraging operator involvement where appropriate.
  • Ensure Compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards: Carry out all activities in line with company policies and legal requirements, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
  • Support Fault Finding and Breakdown Response: Respond effectively to breakdowns when required, applying strong diagnostic skills to restore equipment safely and efficiently while capturing learnings for future prevention.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential: Demonstrable experience or strong understanding of engineering principles, gained through hands-on experience, training, or education. A practical, problem-solving mindset with the ability to understand and work with mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Desirable: Formal engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, Apprenticeship, or Degree in Engineering or related discipline). Experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience using CMMS systems, preferably Limble.
  • Equivalent Experience Considered: We recognise that not all candidates will have formal qualifications. Relevant hands-on experience, a strong technical aptitude, and a willingness to learn and develop will be equally valued for this role.

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
