We are seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Accountant to join the finance team. Working within a public sector organisation in Aberdeen.
Main Duties:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and management accounts
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes
- Reconcile balance sheets, income statements, and other financial documents
- Process invoices, manage accounts payable/receivable, and handle payroll tasks
- Assist in the preparation and submission of financial reports and audits
- Monitor and analyse financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Provide support in financial planning and analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any financial discrepancies
Person Requirements:
- Experience in a similar accounting role is beneficial
- Relevant qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related field are required (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Good understanding of financial regulations and public sector financial management
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
