Sleep-ins: £55 per sleep

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: Residential shift work including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins

About the Role

We are recruiting a Senior Support Worker to join a children’s residential home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs. This is a hands-on leadership role, supporting both young people and the wider staff team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, nurturing environment while promoting positive outcomes, emotional wellbeing and independence for the children in your care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and provide guidance and support to Residential Support Workers
  • Deliver consistent, person-centred care in line with care plans and risk assessments
  • Act as a positive role model and promote appropriate boundaries and behaviour
  • Support young people with daily routines, education, activities and emotional needs
  • Complete accurate records, reports and handovers
  • Support safeguarding practices and ensure regulatory standards are met at all times
  • Work closely with managers, professionals and external agencies
  • Assist with staff mentoring, inductions and on-the-job development

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working in a children’s residential setting
  • Level 3 or 4 qualification in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage challenging situations
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and children’s legislation
  • Flexibility to work shifts including sleep-ins
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Experience supporting children with trauma and emotional behavioural difficulties
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience acting as shift lead or senior on duty
