About the Role
We are recruiting a Senior Support Worker to join a children’s residential home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs. This is a hands-on leadership role, supporting both young people and the wider staff team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, nurturing environment while promoting positive outcomes, emotional wellbeing and independence for the children in your care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and provide guidance and support to Residential Support Workers
- Deliver consistent, person-centred care in line with care plans and risk assessments
- Act as a positive role model and promote appropriate boundaries and behaviour
- Support young people with daily routines, education, activities and emotional needs
- Complete accurate records, reports and handovers
- Support safeguarding practices and ensure regulatory standards are met at all times
- Work closely with managers, professionals and external agencies
- Assist with staff mentoring, inductions and on-the-job development
Essential Requirements
- Experience working in a children’s residential setting
- Level 3 or 4 qualification in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage challenging situations
- A good understanding of safeguarding and children’s legislation
- Flexibility to work shifts including sleep-ins
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience supporting children with trauma and emotional behavioural difficulties
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience acting as shift lead or senior on duty
