In-House Social Worker – Looked After Children (LAC) Location: Salary: £40,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience Hours: Full-time Monday–Friday | No weekends or shift work Work Type: On-site (Flexible Working) We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join an established in-house social work function , supporting children and young people living within residential care settings. This is an opportunity to work within a model that brings together professional social work, case management and residential service management , ensuring children receive consistent oversight, effective safeguarding and coordinated support throughout their placement. You will take an active role in the case management of Looked After Children , working closely with Registered Managers, residential teams, Local Authorities and other professionals. You will help ensure placements remain safe, stable and focused on positive outcomes , while advocating for each young person and supporting their development, wellbeing and preparation for greater independence. Manage allocated cases throughout each child’s placement, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and progress are monitored. Develop, implement and regularly review risk, support and care plans. Liaise with Local Authorities, social care professionals, education, health and other statutory services. Monitor placement stability and identify emerging risks or concerns, ensuring these are appropriately escalated. Build meaningful and professional relationships with young people, advocating for their needs and best interests. Support effective placement planning, reviews and transitions. Contribute to quality assurance, safeguarding and continuous service improvement. Promote positive outcomes, development and independence for children and young people. A Social Work degree or equivalent. Current Social Work registration. Experience working with children and/or young people, ideally within looked-after children or residential settings. Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and risk management. Excellent organisational, communication and report-writing skills. The confidence to work collaboratively with Registered Managers, Local Authorities and wider professional networks. A child-centred approach and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
