For over 25 years, they have been improving people’s lives through their work in the built environment – from creating environmentally sustainable buildings to delivering individual client commissions. Their culture is built on collaboration and expertise, and they are proud of their long‑standing Investors in People accreditation, which reflects their commitment to making work better for their team.

This role is for an experienced and motivated Chartered Building Surveyor to join a dynamic team. You will manage a diverse portfolio of projects across various sectors, acting as a key advisor to clients. A core requirement is the ability to produce high‑quality, precise, and technically robust written specifications that form the backbone of project delivery. Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Specifications: Lead the development and writing of detailed technical specifications for a variety of building projects, including refurbishments, restorations, and new builds. Ensure specifications are clear, compliant with current regulations (including building safety and sustainability standards), and effectively translate design intent into construction reality.
  • Project Management: Manage projects from inception to completion, including feasibility studies, tender preparation and analysis, contract administration (e.g., JCT contracts), and site monitoring.
  • Client Advisory: Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing expert advice on property condition, defects analysis, maintenance planning, and procurement strategies.
  • Surveys & Reporting: Conduct detailed building surveys, diagnose defects, and prepare clear, actionable reports and schedules of works.
  • Collaboration: Work seamlessly within multi‑disciplinary teams, coordinating with in‑house engineers and designers to ensure integrated project solutions.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, building codes, and industry best practices, contributing to the firm’s reputation for technical excellence.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building construction, pathology, materials, and UK building regulations.
  • Commercial Awareness: Experience in financial management of projects, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is required.
Why Apply?
  • Meaningful Work: Contribute to projects that genuinely improve people’s lives, focusing on sustainability and human benefit.
  • Multi‑Disciplinary Environment: Enjoy the variety and support of working alongside engineers and designers on integrated projects.
