This role is for an experienced and motivated Chartered Building Surveyor to join a dynamic team. You will manage a diverse portfolio of projects across various sectors, acting as a key advisor to clients. A core requirement is the ability to produce high-quality, precise, and technically robust written specifications that form the backbone of project delivery.
Technical Specifications:- Lead the development and writing of detailed technical specifications for a variety of building projects, including refurbishments, restorations, and new builds.
- Ensure specifications are clear, compliant with current regulations (including building safety and sustainability standards), and effectively translate design intent into construction reality.
- Manage projects from inception to completion, including feasibility studies, tender preparation and analysis, contract administration.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing expert advice on property condition, defects analysis, maintenance planning, and procurement strategies.
- Conduct detailed building surveys, diagnose defects, and prepare clear, actionable reports and schedules of works.
- Work seamlessly within multi-disciplinary teams, coordinating with in-house engineers and designers to ensure integrated project solutions.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, building codes, and industry best practices, contributing to the firm’s reputation for technical excellence.
- MRICS status (Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) with a relevant degree.
- Demonstrable experience in writing comprehensive specifications for building works.
- Proficiency with specification-writing software.
- Strong understanding of building construction, pathology, materials, and UK building regulations.
- Experience in financial management of projects, including budgeting and cost control.
- A full UK driving licence is required.
